How are the activities of the BSPB funded?
Apart from giving their vote for the conservation of Bulgarian nature, our members and supporters contribute financially too – with their annual membership fee and with donations to particular causes and activities of the organization.
For all the generous support, the BSPB needs additional funding in order to put its nature conservation strategy into action. For that we mostly depend on project funding by private foundations and by programmes of the European Union. The BSPB does not receive direct funding from the state. In the last five years the LIFE+ Programme of the EU has been the main source of funding for the projects of the organization.
The main challenge for the BSPB as a civil society organization is to find ways for sustainable funding of our main activity outside the project-funding framework.
The following organizations – private, governmental and non-governmental, – have funded the activities of the BSPB since its foundation:
Aage V. Jensen Charity
African Bird Club
BSPB - UK
EOG Association for Conservation
