A leucistic pintail (Anas acuta) at Pomorie Lake

A leucistic pintail (Anas acuta) was observed on 17.11.2015 at the southern part of Pomorie Lake near the Salt Museum. The bird was feeding in a pool near to the car park of the museum. During most of the time the duck was keeping together with 32 more birds of the same species, but also amongst the other ducks in the pool.

This is not the first case of leucistic birds recorded in the area around Burgas. On 01.02.2015 a leucistic great cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo) was observed by Rado Moldovanski at the BSPB managed Poda Protected Site. The same observer recorded also a partly leucistic marsh harrier (Circus aeruginosus) with white to pale yellow flight feathers at the same site on 14.11.2015.
