Antennae on sousliks

Within the framework of the programme for the conservation of the last remaining souslik colony in Western Strandzha Mountain 42 of the relocated sousliks were fitted with radio transmitters – a modern method for tracking their movements and behaviour that was applied to small mammals for the first time in Bulgaria.

Power lines safe for birds

The BSPB started a new partnership with the electricity provider CEZ Distribution Bulgaria to making hundreds of kilometers of power lines that are dangerous for the birds safe, and for protecting white stork nests in Western Bulgaria.

We launched the most extensive project for the conservation of the Egyptian vulture in the world. The project incorporates the efforts of institutions and organizations from 14 countries across three continents. The BSPB is the coordinating partner in the Egyptian vulture New LIFE project.
