First occupants of man-made nests

We achieved a success in our strategy to support breeding endangered raptors – man-made nests for the imperial eagle and nestboxes for the red-footed falcon were occupied.

The first national map of sensitive areas for birds in relation to wind-parks

Based on detailed research and with the cooperation of an international team of experts we developed the first national map of zonation for minimizing the risks for birds when planning wind parks – as an interactive GIS system. For the first time globally, the system integrates a map of sensitive bird areas during the breeding, migration and wintering periods with a map of the technical potential for wind turbines. The map provided valuable guidance for the development of the sector with consideration for biodiversity and it is now used by the Ministry of Environment and Water in the decision-making process.
