The three cameras installed in the nests of White storks in the villages of Yarlovo and Dragushinovo near Samokov, Bulgaria now transmit in real-time. Anyone can witness the return of the beloved stork families of hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world and invite them into their homes through the BSPB YouTube channel.
The camera, which was installed back in 2017 in the stork’s nest in the village of Yarlovo, is already broadcasting live at the following link: https://bit.ly/41Gu8oj We are still waiting for the birds, named Snezhi and Vihren, to return to the nest.
Another nest with pair of white storks, which we observed for the first time last year, can be observed here: https://bit.ly/3y5WCKA
Last year, both families delighted us with a new generation and devoted parental care.
The camera to the stork family in the village of Dragushinovo broadcasts live at the following link: https://bit.ly/3ZFziyU
We are still awaiting the return of Draga and Drago as well. We have been watching their lives live since 2019. Last year they were able to successfully raise five juveniles.
We look forward to witnessing such moments again this season!
The installation of the two cameras is part of the measures for the protection of the White stork under the LIFE project “LIFE BIRDS ON POWER LINES”, implemented by CEZ Distribution Bulgaria ЕAD in partnership with the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds. Observations of the life of both stork families provide valuable information about the biology and ecology of the species, which will be necessary for planning future activities for its conservation. Another extremely important measure is the installation of 900 platforms for stork nests. This will reduce incidents and minimize the threat to the lives of storks as a result of hitherto with elements of the network. So far, 917 platforms have been installed in Western Bulgaria.
