Inclusion of Rila IBA in the Natura 2000 network
After the inclusion of Rila IBA, Natura 2000 network already includes all 114 important bird areas in Bulgaria. We received recognition for our work for identifying protected areas for birds in Bulgaria by our colleagues from BirdLife International.
Natura 2000 Award
Together with the Hellenic Ornithological Society, WWF Greece and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, UK, we received the Natura 2000 Award in the category Cross-border cooperation and networking, and the project The Return of The Neophron was listed as one of the 28 best LIFE projects in the category Nature/Information.
Souslik plan
The Ministry of Environment and Water commissioned the BSPB with the preparation of an action plan for the conservation of the European souslik (Spermophilus citellus) in Bulgaria.
