BSPB is looking for a Private Finance, Fundraising and Corporate Partnerships Manager

The Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB) is looking for a motivated and entrepreneurial professional to lead the development of the organisation’s private finance and strategic business partnerships.

We are looking for someone who can turn good ideas into successful partnerships; who understands business but also wants their work to contribute to nature; and who can sit at the same table with entrepreneurs and business leaders and make a compelling case for why investing in nature is an investment in our shared future.

WHO WE ARE

The Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB) is one of Bulgaria’s leading nature conservation organisations. For more than 35 years, we have worked to protect wild birds, the sites and habitats important for them, and to restore nature.

BSPB is a membership organisation and the Bulgarian partner of BirdLife International – the world’s largest partnership of nature conservation organisations.

Over the years, we have built successful partnerships with companies and local producers that support our conservation work. We now want to take the next step – making private finance a significant and sustainable source of funding for nature conservation and restoration in Bulgaria.

To help us achieve this, we are looking for a Private Finance, Fundraising and Corporate Partnerships Manager.

WHAT WILL YOUR ROLE BE?

You will lead the development of BSPB’s private finance activities and build long-term partnerships with companies, corporate donors and other private-sector partners.

You will develop our strategy for attracting private finance, identify new opportunities and partnership models, and be responsible for achieving annual private fundraising targets.

One of your first major tasks will be to develop and test a new mechanism for mobilising private finance for nature restoration. It will build on BSPB’s existing experience of working with local producers and companies and explore opportunities for expansion into new business sectors, companies and regions across Bulgaria.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and lead the implementation of BSPB’s strategy for private finance, fundraising and corporate partnerships;
• Set annual private fundraising targets and be responsible for achieving them;
• Identify companies and business sectors with strong potential for long-term partnerships with BSPB;
• Initiate, develop and negotiate strategic partnerships with Bulgarian and international companies;
• Develop tailored partnership proposals that connect business interests with specific conservation and restoration activities;
• Lead the development and testing of the new mechanism for mobilising private finance for nature restoration and its subsequent expansion;
• Develop and test new approaches to corporate giving and private finance;
• Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key corporate partners and work towards their long-term engagement;
• Monitor partnership performance, including funds raised, development and future potential;
• Represent BSPB at meetings, negotiations, business forums and other events;
• Work with BSPB’s conservation, communications and finance teams to translate our conservation priorities into compelling propositions for businesses;

• Coordinate BSPB’s overall engagement with the business sector and work closely with the colleague responsible for the operational development and management of business partnerships.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for someone with at least five years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas: business development, corporate partnerships, fundraising, philanthropy, sales, client/account management or a related field.

We are looking for someone with:

• Experience in building and developing partnerships with companies or other organisations;
• Experience in negotiation and building long-term professional relationships;
• The ability to turn ideas into concrete proposals, partnerships and results;
• An entrepreneurial mindset and strong results orientation;
• Excellent communication and presentation skills;
• The ability to set, plan and monitor financial and other measurable targets;
• Independence, initiative and the ability to prioritise effectively;
• A university degree in a relevant field;
• Very good command of English;
• Good digital skills;

• A valid driving licence and willingness to travel.

WE WILL CONSIDER IT AN ADVANTAGE IF YOU HAVE

• Experience in developing strategies, business plans or development plans;
• Experience in corporate giving, CSR/ESG, sustainable development or financing socially beneficial causes;
• Experience working with major corporate clients or partners;
• Knowledge of the non-profit sector;

• An interest in nature conservation and a desire to use your professional experience to contribute to a cause with long-term public value.

BSPB has a strong team of conservation experts. For this position, we are primarily looking for someone who understands business, knows how to build partnerships and can turn the potential for collaboration into real private funding for nature.

EMPLOYMENT AND LOCATION

This is a full-time employment position, based primarily in Sofia.

The role involves meetings with companies and partners, as well as frequent travel within Bulgaria.

Remuneration will be determined according to the successful candidate’s professional experience and qualifications and will be in line with BSPB’s remuneration system and salary levels.
