The European Hands Off Nature campaign invites everyone to share personal stories about nature and its importance in their lives. On 23 October, these stories will be presented to European Commissioner for the Environment Jessika Roswall as a symbol of public support for protecting nature.
You can share a story about a place or wild animal that is important to you, a change or loss you have witnessed, the consequences of pollution, or the importance of clean air and water. You can also talk about the future you want for your children and why you believe nature protection laws should be maintained and strengthened, rather than weakened.
You don’t need to be an expert or write a long text. What matters is your personal experience and why nature is important to you. Stories can be written in your native language.
Share your story through the campaign form here.
If you haven’t yet signed the Hands Off Nature petition, you can still do so before 20 October. It has now gathered more than 960,000 signatures, with the goal of reaching one million.
The campaign calls for the protection of European nature laws, including the Birds Directive and the Habitats Directive, which protect thousands of species and habitats and underpin the Natura 2000 network.
